Advertising and the Olympics

Whatever happened to the days when Olympians were vying for the cover of the Wheeties box?  In this day and age it seems like they're all broadening their brand power(lol) we'll chalk it up to trying to reach a wider fan base! Ever since the games began, multiple marijuana dispensaries, happy farms, funny factories, weed shops(whatever you want to call them), have been selling a new product called, "Usain Bolt OG" in Orange County. This "fast hitting" bit of medicinal paraphernalia probably Bolt-ed to the top of the charts!  

And if that wasn't enough, now Usain is lending his face and victory pose to the likes of a Reggae rapper by the name of Shifta in his music video for the song "Feeling Nice/Rude Boy". I like the song.  I like Usain Bolt, aside from the fact that he proclaimed himself to be, 

"...a legend. I'm also the greatest athlete to live."

For one, it's called modesty and two, you're one of the greatest athletes to live, not the only one, share that pedestal you're "Bolting" on... but any-who, I digress.. Check out the video below!

What's next? Michael Phelps rolling papers? Gabby Douglas hair extensions? Katie Ledecky... I don't know... drag queen pumps or something...
