Rihanna Next Chapter

Oprah's been doing a lot of big things ever since she "retired" from talk show hosting.  In her latest episode of Oprah's Next Chapter, Ms. Winfrey interviews sex rock pop princess Rihanna.  Aside from my own personal love affair with Rihanna, this interview with Oprah shed a new light on "Miss Bad Girl RiRi" that I'm sure would move any nay sayers or doubters.

The interview was, in my opinion, short but very to the point.  Oprah hit on a lot of the key areas we all wanted answers to, and maybe, again, it's just my own person obsession, but I could have stood to talk with her more(Can I get a REEFFILLL- in my Elle Varner Voice lol).

Of course Oprah is the only one who could accurately do justice to finding out the whole truth and nothing but the truth on the Chris Brown and Rihanna debacle.  Rihanna took the high road and forgave her "enemy" her "deamons" and Chris.  Something that really resonated with me and with Oprah is that during the brunt of the title wave that was this domestic violence issue, Rihanna was concerned for Chris' sake.  It really takes a self-less person to be concerned about your attacker because you understand him and his problems and know that her is going to be looked as a periah for all things violence and no one will be looking to help him just blame him and point fingers and outcast him as the world did for a period of time.  The hate that you can harbor towards people and things will often times, damage you more than simply forgiving them and leaving it in the Higher Being's hands to punish them for what they did.  I personally feel that he deserved the shunning as penance for his wrong doings, but if nothing else, this whole situation proved that even though we would like to put these people on a pedestal and deem them as perfect and as role models in our eyes, they are all still people like us and the all make mistakes, and "We all need love."

But back to the interview.   Oprah even went so far as to drive through Rihanna's old neighborhood and tour her old house on the beautiful tropical island of Barbados.

I think one of the best parts for me was at the very end when Rihanna surprised her mother with the keys to her own mini mansion.  You could see in her face this was not something to Rihanna was trying to "show-off" about, but that she wanted to make a grand gesture to her mother so she would feel perhaps just part of the thanks and appreciation Rihanna has for everything her mother has done for her.

Overall this interview was a wonderful peek into the soul of one of the most guarded women in this world.  You could tell she wanted to fight it, but Oprah pried through and got down into some really true and raw emotions with Rihanna that really help to humanized this almost goddess-like persona that marketing and society have put on her.  Deep down inside, Robin is who she always will be and no amount of money appears to ever be able to change that and I personally love her for it!
