Last week a mysterious marketing plot was deployed on R&B bad boy crooner Chris Brown. But its intentions where not nearly as as harmful as the culprit probably hoped it would be.
Over night a series of warning labels popped up on Chris Brown's latest album, "Fortune." The warning label reads:
In stead of throwing a fit, or a chair for that matter, Breezy and his marketing team are laughing the situations off. The ploy would probably help Mr. Brown's sales more than anything because at this point, who really does not know about that whole situation? There's really no more that can be said or done about it, especially after Rihanna's comments on how she feels about Chris during her interview on Oprah's Next Chapter. So really, the world wide media coverage that this stunt has produced is free publicity.
I personally would not mind purchasing a CD with the infamous sticker on the cover, like sort of a collector's item, but then again, I'm weird and unnecessary like that(LOL) I mean if Rihanna is over it shouldn't everyone else? She forgave and moved on, it didn't even happen to them why are they still so pressed over it?
They say don't buy the CD, not really much on not buying the digital download ;)
I remember first learning of Kreayshawn when I was following Kat Stacks on Twitter(come on we all did it). Kat Stacks shared the video of Kreayshawn speaking on her thoughts of what Kat Stacks was doing as an industry, as a hoe, as a hoe in the industry, and as a industry hoe.
After I watched the video I was intrigued by this hood-sounding, blonde chick with the first connected nose ring I had seen since 1994. So I clicked on her other videos and found this single "Bumpin Bumpin" and fell in LOVE! I immediately had to have the song on my playlist. I played it for all my friends while I gave the Kat Stacks back story and everything. This girl was different and she wasn't afraid to stand out and be whatever she wanted to be.
Then things went silent for a while. She's an artist and a producer so she started posting weird "trippy" videos that are actually quite interesting when you are inebriated or under the influence of recreational narcotics(or so I've been told ;). But the music was nowhere to be found for a while.
Then all of a sudden I started seeing screen shots of what looked to be a music video on Tumblr, so I investigated. My suspicions were correct! Kreayshawn had come out with a new single and a new music video! Again I fell head over heels! She had actually sampled her first song, to aid in this new single, "Gucci Gucci."
Her popularity started buzzing after this. Lil' Wayne remixed it and she started working with bigger artists like Souljah Boy and 2 Chainz. She dropped a mixtape on DatPiff and it got mixed reviews. I personally hated it but then again I'm not into that chopped and screwed up non-rhyming music.
Recently, she released a single and music video for "Go Hard" off her debut album, "Somethin' Bout Kreay." It's on sale now and features stars like Kid Cudi and 2Chainz as well as her long time rode dogs, Diplo, Sissy Nobby, V-nasty and Chippy Nonstop. She even performed it live on the Jimmy Kimmel Show(big things)! I will have to admit, the album is well produced. Some of the songs are very fun. Even the song "Left Ey3" was feeding me a little gangster. And I honestly don't even hate her rendition of "Supersonic" entitled "K234ys0nixz", but I do, however, I hate her title naming choices.
This was my least favorite out of all of her singles but that's just personal preference.
Overall I would not recommend the album to any and everybody. There definitely is "Somthin' Bout Kreay." I have even gotten some of the most hard core guys I know to admit to finding her at the least, "interesting." But I would recommend for everyone to give her a shot, she's probably got at least one song you would bump somewhere for some reason.

Yeah we all were a little salty of the wait but I am here to confirm for you that it is WELL worth the wait! Let me just put it this way, it's hard for me to type this blog right now because I keep breaking out into dance moves as I'm listening!
This album has the perfect balance of chill zone out music and funny party songs. Just like he promised, the album is packed with amazing features. I'm only a little disappointed that there's only 12 songs(but that's just me being greedy lol). I can honestly say I've never skipped any song on the list, this is the first album I've kept in full(as I usually go through and delete songs I don't like and know I will never listen to again) since Watch the Throne and Common's last album.

DMX gave us an album, "Undisputed" on this day, the anniversary of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. I'm wondering if that was on purpose, but I'm not sure of what that purpose might have been.
Anyway, I listened to it and, well, it's just not what I was looking for. When I first started hearing of X starting a comeback I'll admit that I was a little more excited than the typical rap fan. X was the epitome of real gangster rap for me growing up, before gangster rap became soiled by "pretty boys" and the word "swag."
The first thing I thought as I skimmed through the selection titles was Mary J Blige circa 2002(or so), and up. Almost every song title on the list sounds as if it could be the title of a diary entry(as if people title their diary entries). You have titles such as, "Cold World," "I get Scared," "Slippin Again," and "Prayer." They sound more like his poetry than a song.
Don't get me wrong, some of the songs did give me a gleam of hope reminiscent of the styles and flows of vintage DMX but the ratio of diary entries to songs was like 3:1 and that's just a little too much venting on one album for me. Not to mention, in this day and age, half your plays come from who you have featured on your songs as well. The only people X has featured are Andreena Mills, Machine Gun Kelly, Dani Stevenson, and somebody named Kashmere; not exactly a five star lineup.I think his die hard fanatics will probably love the album. They'll be able to get a real indebted idea of the struggles he's been going through since his last album.
So here's what I'm hoping. This is his warm-up album and he's shaking all the cob webs off and getting all of the hurt and struggle out of his system and he's going to come back after this with a slamming mixtape for us and show us the X I saw back in Baltimore this summer who was on the verge of a breakdown because the crowd was loving him so much but they cut his mic and forced him off the stage as he shut the house down with his classics.
Hip hop needs the real DMX back.

I know you know that I know that you know that I know Dedication 4 was supposed to be dropping today. So you know that I know that.. well.. that joint just ain't here yet, so I went snooping around for answers. On Weezy's Bread Over Bed website he claims that he purposely decided to delay the mixtape as to not take any shine away from 2 Chainz's album release of "Based on a T.R.U. Story" but then he fessed up to really not finishing it in time as he is working on his "skateboard career."
Lil Tunechi what is you doin hunny?(lol) Trust me, 2 Chainz didn't need any help on his album numbers I'm sure by now everybody knows that album is worth coping. So stop BSin' around and give us the mixtape already!(lol)
If I didn't know better I would take that as a slight on some "you only do numbers if I don't take them away from you" deal but whatever, they're cool so I'm sure he didn't mean it that way. But either way I'm sure Chainz wouldn't care even if it was a slight. He knows he's going to be getting his money Dedication 4 or no Dedication 4.

When I read the title of this song and saw that is featured Nicki Minaj I couldn't wait to see what it had to offer! Today we have B.o.B - Out of My Mind featuring Nicki Minaj. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed!! The song has a hot party beat to dance to. I can imagine myself in the middle of somebody's dance floor going crazy to this song, perhaps its my own personal connection with being crazy, but this just might be my new theme song!
The whole story line of the video is about B.o.B being incarcerated in some type of mental institution and Nicki Minaj is apparently his, therapist or some sort of council. Well people have always believed that the psychiatry profession can sometimes make you just as insane as the patients you treat(circa: Hannibal Lecter) so her being his crazy psychiatrist is a very believable role for Nicki, well really, Nick playing any crazy role seems to suit her quite nicely, I wonder why that is...?
Now I hope you're not looking for lyrical genius here or anything. I mean Nicki does rhyme B.o.B with bob sooo, yeah just appreciate the song for what it is! lol

RCA recording phenom, Elle Varner dropped her debut album "Perfectly Imperfect" earlier today and the title fits 'perfectly'. Opening up with her debut single "Only Wanna Give it to you" featuring J. Cole set the tone for the rest of the album. Next up on the roster is the more recent single dropped earlier this year "Refill". I don't know about the rest of you, but I just have to have a 'refill' of that song when I hear it.
Some say her voice is harsh or even dare call her 'pitchy' but I say she's exactly what the music industry needs! Her innovative disregard for filing in with the other cookie cutter women in this industry today is very commendable. What is she Pop? Soul? R&B? She's exactly who she wants to be and that's what matters! Not that I wasn't already a fan with the mix tape.. shes solidified it with this album. GO BUY IT NOW!!
