RIP Chris Lightly

Hip-hop mogul Chris Lightly was found dead outside of his South Riverdale Bronx home this morning of a gun shot wound to the head.  Police on the scene also recovered a gun next to the body.

As of now, reports are classifying this as a suicide but there have been no reports on any left behind letters or notes that might explain why.  There was a divorced filed between he and his wife, Veronica last year so they were separated.  There are also speculations that he was facing financial issues as he owed the IRS $5 million in unpaid taxes.  But sources close to the couple say Veronica and Lightly had gotten into a huge argument when Lightly came to their house with moving vans to pick up his belongings.  They believe he must have left for home after that to shoot himself.

Lightly was the long time manager of star celebrities like 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, and Missy Elliot, to name a few.  He also owned Violator's record label.

He always seemed to have a smile on his face and he left behind a lot of friends in the industry who will seem to miss him dearly.  I hope we can find some true explanations behind this tragedy.

Where's the Dedication?

I know you know that I know that you know that I know Dedication 4 was supposed to be dropping today.  So you know that I know that.. well.. that joint just ain't here yet, so I went snooping around for answers.  On Weezy's Bread Over Bed website he claims that he purposely decided to delay the mixtape as to not take any shine away from 2 Chainz's album release of "Based on a T.R.U. Story" but then he fessed up to really not finishing it in time as he is working on his "skateboard career."

Lil Tunechi what is you doin hunny?(lol)  Trust me, 2 Chainz didn't need any help on his album numbers I'm sure by now everybody knows that album is worth coping.  So stop BSin' around and give us the mixtape already!(lol)

If I didn't know better I would take that as a slight on some "you only do numbers if I don't take them away from you" deal but whatever, they're cool so I'm sure he didn't mean it that way.  But either way I'm sure Chainz wouldn't care even if it was a slight.  He knows he's going to be getting his money Dedication 4 or no Dedication 4.

Stranded on Lenox

EEeeether boy! Ron Brownz, the creator of Nas' song, "Ether," dropped his mixtape and the music video to his single "Stranded on Lenox" and Varsity ENT was front and center for all the fun. When we heard Ron was recording the video for "Stranded on Lenox" you know we had to hitch up the party bus and road trip it to Harlem to show love!

Lenox Avenue is a very historical location in Harlem. Noted as the "heartbeat" of Harlem by the famed Langston Hughes, Ron Brownz and this entire movement is very pivotal to the area.

Happy Birthday Michael!

Today would have been Michael Jackson's 54th birthday anniversary.  In honor of his memory, the Jackson kids road tripped it to daddy's boyhood home in Gary, Indiana with some of the other Jackson clan in tow.

Co-guardians Katherine  and TJ along with their aunt La Toya also came along.  No word of Janet however....

Michael will be honored at the annual "Going Back to Indiana" celebration.  It officially kicks off tonight with a candlelight vigil in front of the home.

Michael died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.

Flash Rocks the Stage!

Protege super producer Flashman took his single "911" on tour and of course he made sure to stop through the home town to show some love!

He blessed the stage at La'sons on Belair Road in Baltimore and shut it down!

Hard to believe all that talent could fit into one 17 year old body.

You probably already heard about 50's partnership with the World Food Program by donating portions of his proceeds from his Street King's, SK energy shots to help feed starving children in Africa.

50 went over to Kenya and spent time visiting many Kenyan schools where he met these eager entrepreneurs.  People thought he might first try expanding into the Europe or the South American market, but with Africa being one of the six fastest growing economies in the world, 50's  endeavor is not only a philanthropic one, but also very economical from a business stance.

Ever since 50 had his interview on "Oprah's Next Chapter" I have begun to see him in a new light.  He's not just some crazy thug rapper from the streets.  He's an intelligent, business-minded, multifaceted individual with absolutely no plans on fading away to obscurity.  

This exactly the type of positive press that will help him to excel in the world of powerful moguls, movers and shakers who run the most powerful nations of the world.  

Kudos Mr. Curtis, kudos!

Out of the midst of the overly plastic and overly.... rated, comes Missy Elliott here to save us all from the mundane drudgery we have begun to accept as FemC Hip Hop!

Earlier today Timabland tweeted that Missy will be dropping two brand spanking new singles for the Labor Day weekend; "Triple Threat" and "9th Inning". Well, one is knew, the other Missy performed on stage with Tim in New York in April, but whatever, I'll take it!

It's about time Missy!  Her last album, "The Cookbook" was released back in 2005.  There were talks of a follow up that was supposed to happen in June but it's August now so we see how that went.  

Either way I can't wait to hear so REAL hip hop again! It feels like Christmas on Labor Day!

Rihanna and Rob's Play Date

Rihanna and  Robert Kardashian were spotted hanging out an cavorting in the streets of Hollywood all day yesterday.  I'm no one for the spread of rumors, and I mean, I don't even think Rob would be half the man a wild child like Rihanna but I hope this Kardashian bug isn't spreading.  It seems as if this family will not stop until they have dated the entire celebrity world!

But check this out, Rob is dating a singer named Rita Ora and the two recently got each other's names tattooed on their hands.  I wonder how she feels about his abdomen sized tattoo of Adrienne Bailon's name?  Or did he already get that one laser removed?(lol I crack my own self up you don't have to laugh!)

Appeal? What's the Deal?!

SO check this out.  Tamika RaymondFoster is planning on appealing the court decision that Usher maintain primary custody of his two boys and she get everything else.  She is siting bias from the judge as her claim for the appeal.

Are you kidding me?! BIAS?!! Bias from the same judge who gave you exactly everything else you wanted except primary custody?! You have to be kidding me!  There's no way she can get away with that!

If anything this to me would show how even more unfit she is! What woman wants to prolong divorce battles and really anything having to deal with negativity and their children?

I'm sorry but none of this seems right to me.  Has she lost sight of what's important?  Making sure the rest of the children she has are always happy.  She just sounds like a scorned little spoiled brat who is mad because she did not get every single thing her way. If I were the judge, I sure would appeal this decision, but appeal it to give her even less parental rights then she was already going to be awarded. . . but then again I'm probably just biased. -___-

Oh happy day!  Usher Raymond has won the war!  News broke that a judge awarded him primary custody of his two sons, with Tamika still having certain limited custody that has not yet been specified.  

I would have to say this has been one of the ugliest divorce battles ever publicized on national television.  There was a lot of name calling and a lot of accusations being slung around.  In the end the courts decide based on what is best for the children in question and I happen to agree 100% with there decision today.  Don't get me wrong, I do understand the power and necessity of a mother, but in this case I just believe that for the sake of everyone involved this was the best resolution.

I suppose we the media did not help matters by poking and prying for every intimate detail we could posses.   But I would like to believe that sometimes it's a little more than just being nosy.  That some people really do care about and want to sympathize with these people and aren't just looking for their next bit of gossip.  

Sometimes we have to remember that even though these stories may seem larger than life and straight out of a fiction novel, there are real people and real emotions involved.

And well, enough with this mushy sh*t lol I'm happy for Usher. :)

iM oUt oF mY mInD!!

When I read the title of this song and saw that is featured Nicki Minaj I couldn't wait to see what it had to offer!  Today we have B.o.B - Out of My Mind featuring Nicki Minaj.  Let me tell you, I was not disappointed!!  The song has a hot party beat to dance to.  I can imagine myself in the middle of somebody's dance floor going crazy to this song, perhaps its my own personal connection with being crazy, but this just might be my new theme song!

The whole story line of the video is about B.o.B being incarcerated in some type of mental institution and Nicki Minaj is apparently his, therapist or some sort of council.  Well people have always believed that the psychiatry profession can sometimes make you just as insane as the patients you treat(circa: Hannibal Lecter) so her being his crazy psychiatrist is a very believable role for Nicki, well really, Nick playing any crazy role seems to suit her quite nicely, I wonder why that is...?

Now I hope you're not looking for lyrical genius here or anything.  I mean Nicki does rhyme B.o.B with bob sooo, yeah just appreciate the song for what it is! lol

Not a Peaceful Death

The coroner report reads that Rodney King was "in a state of drug and alcohol induced delirium" at the time of his death which means that he could have fallen or even jumped into the swimming pool where he probably had a heart attack and because of his inebriated state, was unable to save himself and therefore drowned.  He tested positive for Alcohol, marijuana(which probably had nothing to do with it), cocaine, and PCP.

King was found naked and face down in his pool's deep end when the police arrived on the scene, according to their report.

Police also found a pitchfork, hoe, and a vacuum pool sweeper in the pool with Rodney.  His girlfriend said she tried to use them to fish his body out of the water because she herself is not a strong swimmer...

There are all types of wild and crazy fuckery going on in this whole situation.  Damn Rodney, I wish you could have been at peace with those drugs.

Two-time Loser!

Remember that whoopin' I told you about that LL Cool J so nicely gift wrapped for that intruder?  Well turns out he had a little more than a few bumps and bruises.  LL pushed dudes nose back into his optical cavity! No really, he just broke his noes and jaw(lol).

Fifty-six year old Jonathan A. Kirby has been charged with 1st degree burglary with a person present.

To add insult to Kirby's injuries(literally) he's a three time offender and you know what that means, three strike and YOU'RE OUT!  If he is convicted(which duh, he will be) this dude could face 38 to life.

Not only that, but the prosecutor has asked for his bail to be set at $1.1 million.  Why do they even do that? Why post some astronomical bail price that they'll obviously never be able to meet? If he could afford $1.1 million he wouldn't have been rummaging around in LL's family room that night. Why not just deny bail all together or just cut to the chase and set it to "Yo ass ain't gettin' out" price?

So dude used his last chance to brake into a house, get his jaw handed to him, and face life in prison.  Talk about a 2 time loser!

Some ideas are spreading that Mr. Kirby might have his own case for excessive force used by Mr J.  I'm sorry but I don't see it working.  Johnny Corcoran is dead.

Welcome to: Our House

 The Slaughterhouse rap group is due to release their first major album this Tuesday August 28th entitled Welcome to: Our House; but you know I got the early premier for you so I had to rate it!

The album starts off strong with this unsettling intro of sound effects I assume they believe you might hear in their "Slaughterhouse."  The first song was also powerful, "Our House" featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey.  I really liked that song, has a unconventional beat, something that you really vibe to.  After that though the excitement kind of dwindles for me.  .


I mean don't get me wrong, the lyricism is out of this world on these songs, but of course, that's what we have come to expect from the Shady Gang.  I guess it's just like any songs you would hear from lyrical artists, you can respect and appreciate the art but sometimes all those words just crammed down your ear can be a little overwhelming. 


I could really only listen to a few songs in one setting and then I would have to switch to another style because even if each individual song is great in its own right, it can become just exhausting to keep up with the quick flows and fast story lines.


Or maybe we as a society just have very lazy ears?  Either way, if you're a Eminem, Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and/or Royce da 5'9" fan you should definitely go buy it when it drops online!

Jackson Family Feuds

We all heard the rumors about that big tussle in the Jackson compound, and no, this time it wasn't Joseph with the belt; but Prince, Princess, Paris, Blanket, Happy, Sneezy, Dopey,(oh) uh yeah them, and the other Jackson siblings.  I believe there were talks of Kathrine being held hostage and, oh I don't know, you know those eccentric Jacksons and their rantings...

But apparently one of the parts of the rumors was true.  Tito "TJ" Jackson Junior now has permanent co-guardianship of the Micheal clan.  Everything seems to be peachy keen with the court appointed decision too; with Katherine and the rest of the Jackson family supporting the idea citing that TJ has been a strong father figure to the children for years now.

All I am saying is give peace a chance, and stop fighting over stuff that's not yours!
